If you have more painting clothes than actual clothes, or you pride yourself in how much dog slobber and hair coats your floors, or you just get incredibly tickled when you find the next greatest solution to the furniture/available space paradox; then you will probably find yourself pretty cozy here.
We are the full-time working, sometimes social, artsy kids, who love DIY projects and bringing what inspires us most into our homes’ decor. We love anything clever, handy or just plain fun. If we find a solution to a challenge we get all too excited, in a “how do we have friends” kind of way. We affectionately call ourselves “redo addicts.” Nine times out of ten when we are together, one or both of us say the words “We are going to re-do our…..”
I know. ANOTHER HOME DIY BLOG…. ughhhh! Gasp! Sigh! pththth. But wait a second.. As if you could really get enough of this stuff anyways. You love seeing pretty things and sparking ideas and inspiration! I know you do! Know how I know? Because God created the person who created Pinterest and all the women said “Amen!”
So here’s why you will love this blog. We are two women, both September babies (Virgos Unite!); one of us born and raised in Columbia, SC and the other born in GA and raised in Charlotte, NC. We are both photographers which means we love pretty things, spaces, textures, people… ok so we are really selective on the people part but lucky for you, who better to run a home blog than a homebody? Am I right? We actually photograph home products in a commercial setting for a living which means we are really good at calling crapy merchandise what it is…. crap. Here’s the kicker!! Are you ready! This is not a “DIY, Look how crafty I am/ how pretty my house is” kind of blog. This is a blog where two women provide documentation and reviews on DIY projects for their two homes. That’s right 2 women, 2 homes, 2 design styles, 1 blog! Amber is a second time homeowner who lives in SC and Haylie is a first time home owner in Charlotte. Amber‘s house, a two story, 2256 sq ft. home was built in 2015. Haylie’s house, a mid century, 1269 sq ft. brick and vinyl ranch was built in 1961. So the name of the game here is “Perspective”. We both love making our homes our favorite place to be and we both run into challenges in the midst of completing a task; although our tasks and our challenges are different. This blog is where you can: get perspective of what it is like to renovate and refinish a newer home vs. and older home; how to create space in a smaller house and how to get the best use of the space in a larger house; and the pros and cons of it all, every step of the way.
We are so glad that you are here. Take a gander, stay a while, get inspired, and get cracking! Learn more about Amber and Haylie here!
